Bob Dylan Awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature

After decades of impeccable songwriting skills and amassing an almost mythical status as a premier musician and inspiration to millions, Bob Dylan was recognized on Thursday with one of the most prestigious honors possible.

Celebrated “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition,” Dylan is the first American since Toni Morrison in 1993 to be given this particular honor.

As you might imagine, word of Dylan’s Nobel Prize hit the Internet in waves early Thursday, with takes coming from all angles — some in favor of the news:

Congratulations, Bob Dylan — and thanks for all the wonderful music over the years.
